Chelmsford High School announces Students of the Month for April

CHELMSFORD, Massachusetts (May 1, 2026) – Six seniors were recently honored as Chelmsford High School named its Lions Pride/Rotary Student of the Month recipients for April, announced CHS Principal Stephen Murray.
Students receiving recognition were Misha Kapoor and Mia Troncoso from Emerson House, Michael Layes and Sara Antonitis of Hawthorne House, and Ava Boucher and Ayaan Srivastava from Whittier House.
Misha Kapoor
Kapoor is currently enrolled in Early Child Growth and Development, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Psychology, Band Honors, AP Literature and Composition and AP Physics 1.
“A deeply compassionate and driven individual,” Kapoor is also an exceptional scholar, highlighted by her induction into the National Honor Society (NHS).
Since her freshman year, Kapoor has been an active and valued member of the CHS Marching Band and the All-Town Wind Ensemble, where she now serves as a section leader.
Kapoor has several meaningful leadership roles within the school community, including editor of the school newspaper, recording secretary for the Teen Librarians of Chelmsford and social media manager for the South Asian Student Association. She is also an active member of LIME Club and Class Representatives.
Looking ahead, Kapoor plans to attend the University of Connecticut with the goal of becoming a pediatric dentist or orthodontist.
She is the daughter of Anupa and Sunil Kapoor.
Mia Troncoso
“A dedicated and well-rounded student,” Troncoso is currently enrolled in Concert Choir Honors, AP Psychology, Physics, Pre-Calculus, Supervised Education Practicum and Seminar, AP Literature and Composition and Studio 1.
Troncoso has been inducted into NHS, the Spanish World Language Honor Society, and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She has also been recognized for her community service and leadership through her nomination for the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, an honor awarded to only one CHS student each year.
During her time at CHS, Troncoso has been heavily involved in extra-curriculars, including the CHS Theatre Guild, Interact Club, Class Representatives, LIME Club, GIVE Club and the Freshman Mentor Program.
Outside of school, Troncoso volunteers her time at SummerFest and the Chelmsford Public Library; she is also co-president of the Scouting America Venturing Crew.
After graduating CHS, Troncoso plans to attend Endicott College with the goal of becoming an elementary teacher.
She is the daughter of Tracy and Antonio Troncoso.
Michael Layes
Layes is currently enrolled in a rigorous course load including Honors Concert Choir, AP Music Theory, Honors Pre-Calculus, AP Psychology, AP Environmental Science, Modern World Literature and Heaven and Hell.
His dedication to academics has earned Layes acceptance into the Tri-M Music Honor Society, NHS and the World Language Honors Society; he is also a recipient of the Massachusetts Seal of Biliteracy in American Sign Language.
As for extra-curriculars, Laye is an active member of the Ecology club, co-president and music arranger for The Thursdays a cappella group and music director and composer for the CHS Theatre Guild.
Outside of CHS, Layes is dedicated to serving his community, spending countless hours composing a cappella arrangements for middle school music ensembles; performing with various musical groups for retired seniors and veterans the in the community; helping set up and organize books for the Chelmsford Public Library book sale; and participating in numerous bottle and can drives to advocate and raise funding for the performing arts in Chelmsford Public Schools.
This fall, Layes will be continuing his education at Berklee College of Music.
He is the son of Rosa and Frank Layes.
Sara Antonitis
Antonitis is currently taking a demanding course load at CHS that includes AP Research, AP Environmental Science, AP Calculus, AP Psychology, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, AP Literature and Composition and Modern Topics in Health Sciences.
Her dedication to her studies has earned Antonitis induction into multiple honors societies, including NHS and Spanish National Honor Society.
In addition to her studies, Antonitis is an active member of LIME Club, GIVE Club (vice-president) and CHS Theatre Guild, and participates on the soccer and spring track and field teams.
Outside of CHS, Antonitis can be found working on her Girl Scout Gold Award or volunteering with her church youth group.
After graduating, Antonitis plans to attend Purdue University to study pharmaceutical science with aspirations of a career focused on pharmaceutical drug research and development.
She is the daughter of Nancy Antonitis.
Ava Boucher
“A strong, hard-working student,” Boucher is currently enrolled in AP Statistics, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, Calculus, Design and Production, Environmental Science Pathway, Microsoft Office Certification and Modern World Literature.
“A leader in and out of the classroom,” Boucher has been inducted into NHS, National English Honor Society and the World Language Honor Society. Her outstanding work in ASL has earned her the Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction.
In addition to her studies, Boucher has been a valued member of the CHS lacrosse and basketball teams, as well as the Freshman Mentor Program, American Sign Language Club and Best Buddies.
Beyond the walls of CHS, Boucher has served as a camp counselor for SummerFest, officiated local lacrosse games and has run a Toys for Tots fundraiser since 2016.
This fall, Boucher plans on attending Endicott College where she will be studying nursing and continuing with her lacrosse career.
She is the daughter of Michael and Sara Boucher.
Ayaan Srivastava
Described as a wonderful student “with a profound curiosity about the world around him,” Srivastava is currently enrolled in AP Literature and Composition, AP Statistics, AP Physics I, Business Management, Precalculus Honors, Anatomy and Physiology Honors and Band Honors.
Srivastava has been inducted into NHS, Science National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society and the World Language Honor Society; he has also been recognized as an AP Scholar with Honors.
Outside the classroom, Srivastava is very active in the school community, serving as a member of the CHS Marching Band, Model United Nations, CHSTv, the Science Team and HOSA – Future Health Professionals.
When he’s not working hard on his studies or involved in activities, Srivastava can be found volunteering at Lawrence General Hospital and with the American Red Cross Association.
Looking ahead, Srivastava will be attending the University of Maryland this fall to study public health/biology on a pre-med track.
He is the son of Maneesh Srivastava and Sharifffa Shamsudeen.
