Frequently Asked Questions

Should I take the SAT?

• Yes! We recommend that students, starting in the spring as juniors, take the SAT 2-3 times. Many colleges are now test-optional, but policies can change; we recommend that you be as well-prepared as possible.

If the CHS testing center is full when I try to register, can more seats be opened?

• Potentially. Please contact the SAT Coordinator, Mrs. Dougherty-Martin, at dougherty-martinme@chelmsford.k12.ma.us, and ‘cc your school counselor.

How do I access SAT/PSAT score reports?

• Your scores can be accessed through your College Board portal. Students can choose to send their scores to colleges and should be aware of individual testing requirements. CHS does not have access to/cannot send scores on your behalf.

The 2026 SAT Weekend Student Score Release Dates are as follows:

• August 22, 2026, Test Date (Score Release: September 4, 2026)
• September 12, 2026, Test Date (Score Release: September 25, 2026)
• October 3, 2026, Test Date (Score Release: October 16, 2026)
• November 7, 2026, Test Date (Score Release: November 20, 2026)
• December 5, 2026, Test Date (Score Release: December 18, 2026)

I receive accommodations at school through a 504 or IEP. Will I have accommodations on the SAT?

• Even if you receive accommodations at school, you must apply for accommodations through College Board. Once you are approved, College Board will send you an SSD number, which you must enter every time you register for the SAT. Once you are approved for accommodations, you do not need to apply again.

The deadlines for which CHS can apply for accommodations are as follows:

• October 3, 2026, Test Date (Accommodations Request Deadline: August 14, 2026)

• December 5, 2026 Test Date (Accommodations Request Deadline: October 16, 2026
• March 6, 2027 Test Date (Accommodations Request Deadline: January 15, 2027)

• June 5, 2027 Test Date (Accommodations Request Deadline: April 16, 2027)

Important: College Board notes that the accommodations approval process can take up to seven weeks, so students should begin as early as possible.

Can I obtain financial assistance when registering for the SAT?

• Yes. If the cost of the SAT will present a financial hardship for your family, please reach out to your school counselor prior to registering for the test.

Important Test Day Reminders

– Log into your College Board account and make sure you know your username and password.

– Complete all required Bluebook/test setup steps.

– Confirm your registration and any potential accommodations.

– Bring an acceptable photo ID, a fully charged Chromebook, and a charger.

– Arrive on time and prepared.

PSAT

PSAT testing will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Chelmsford High School.

Test day information:

• Doors open at 7:45 a.m.
• Doors lock at 8 a.m.
• Testing will end roughly at 10:45-11:15 a.m.

Everyone taking the test must have photo identification, or they will not be allowed to enter the testing site.

To register, please fill out the PSAT Registration Google Form.
The registration deadline is Friday, October 9, 2026. Payment is due Monday, October 14, 2026.

There are two ways to pay: Online through MySchoolBucks or by check.

Checks may be dropped in the black payment box located in the main office at the high school. If paying by check, please fill out the form located next to the payment box before submitting your check.
