Chelmsford High School announces Students of the Month for January

CHELMSFORD, Massachusetts (Jan. 30, 2026) – Six seniors were recently honored as Chelmsford High School named its Lions Pride/Rotary Student of the Month recipients for January, announced CHS Principal Stephen Murray.
Students receiving recognition were Emily Tran and Reese Boucher from Emerson House, Danny Tseng and Anika Gurijala of Hawthorne House, and Jayden LaRochelle and Miles Redding Cooper from Whittier House.
Emily Tran
Described as “a lifelong learner and a compassionate leader,” Tran is currently enrolled in AP Calculus, Honors Biotechnology 2, AP Statistics, Modern World Literature, Nutrition, AP Chemistry and Honors Anatomy & Physiology.
An exceptional scholar, Tran has been inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS), Science National Honor Society (SNHS) and the National English Honor Society (NEHS).
In addition to being the captain of the CHS Dance Team, Tran is the treasurer of the Asian Student Organization and the director of communications for the Freshmen Mentor Program.
In her free time, Tran volunteers at Chelmsford Public Library.
After graduating from Chelmsford High School, Tran plans to attend a four-year university to study biology and health science, with the goal of becoming a physician assistant.
She is the daughter of Tina Nguyen and Gary Tran.
Reese Boucher
“A student who embodies the spirit of exploration and intellectual curiosity,” Boucher is enrolled in AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Literature, AP Psychology, American History Through Film, Journalism and Nutrition.
“An exceptional scholar,” Boucher has been inducted into the NHS, SNHS, NEHS and World Language Honor Society. She has also earned the ASL Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction and received National Merit Scholarship Recognition.
Boucher is deeply involved in the CHS community as an active member of the Interact Club, GIVE Club, Art Club, Crochet Club and the Chemical Sciences Association.
When not focused on her studies, Boucher can be found volunteering at the Chelmsford Food Pantry, the Paul Center and the Chelmsford Dog Park.
After graduation, Boucher plans to further her education at a college or university, with a potential major in a STEM-related field.
She is the daughter of Denise and Paul Boucher.
Danny Tseng
Tseng is currently taking a rigorous course load that includes AP Physics, AP Calculus, AP PLTW Computer Science Principles, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Psychology, Computer Apps, and Dual Enrollment Writing for College.
His passion for knowledge has earned Tseng membership in NHS and the World Language Honor Society.
Outside the classroom, Tseng is involved in multiple extracurricular activities including the Robotics Team (mechanical and electrical captain), the Artificial Intelligence Club (co-founder and co-president) and the Science team. He is also a member of the varsity tennis team.
Tseng actively contributes to UMass Lowell’s RAMP program and works as a tutor for English and math at Kumon.
In his spare time, Tseng volunteers with the Chelmsford Public Library and Habitat for Humanity Restore.
In the fall, Tseng plans to attend Northeastern University and major in either electrical or aerospace engineering.
He is the son of Allan and Sansan Tseng.
Anika Gurijala
Described as “accomplished and humble in her approach to learning,” Gurijala is currently enrolled in AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Physics, AP Literature and Composition, AP Calculus, AP Psychology, Honors Anatomy and Physiology and Child Growth and Development.
With academics of utmost importance to her, Gurijala is proud to be a member of NHS, SNHS and NEHS.
Gurijala is a founding member and president of Health Occupations Students of America, president of the science team and a member of the CHS varsity girls tennis team.
Dedicated to serving her community, Gurijala volunteers her time at Chelmsford Public Library, Chelmsford Grow-A-Row, Newton Wellesley Hospital, and Catholic Medical Center.
After leaving CHS, Gurijala plans to attend college and major in biology and/or English literature. She hopes to continue advocating for open access to science and become a surgeon.
She is the daughter of Rohini and Ram Gurijala.
Jayden LaRochelle
A student who “cares deeply about challenging himself,” La Rochelle is currently enrolled in Modern World Literature, Physics, AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Psychology, Pre-Calculus and Percussion.
A fantastic student, LaRochelle has earned membership into NHS and he has achieved the Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish.
LaRochelle is an avid musician, performing as a percussionist in the CHS marching band and concert band.
When he’s not in school or performing, LaRochelle can be found volunteering at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, working with the youth in the nursery program.
Though his future is still uncertain, LaRochelle intends to go to a four-year college or university and major in nursing. He hopes to eventually work in the pediatric field and possibly in oncology.
He is the son of Derek and Katie LaRochelle.
Miles Redding Cooper
“An exceptional student,” Redding Cooper is currently enrolled in AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Music Theory, AP Psychology, Pre-Calculus, Modern World Literature, Band H – Woodwinds & Brass Instruments, American History Through Film and Nutrition.
His hard work in school has earned Redding Cooper membership in NHS, Spanish National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society.
Incredibly active in the CHS community, Redding Cooper is a member of the marching band, Dean’s Council, LIME Club, Freshman Mentor Program, Class Reps, DECA, Asian Student Organization, All-Town Wind Ensemble, concert band, jazz band, pep band and CHS Theatre Guild. He is also involved in the CHS ski and track teams.
Still unsure of where he will attend college, Redding Cooper is hoping to major in management or entrepreneurship.
He is the son of Holly Redding Cooper and Jeffrey Cooper.
