Chelmsford High School announces Students of the Month for May

CHELMSFORD, Massachusetts (May 30, 2025) – Six seniors were recently honored as Chelmsford High School named its Lions Pride/Rotary Student of the Month recipients for May, announced CHS Principal Stephen Murray.

Students receiving recognition were Aarushi Chopra and Nalina Denault from Emerson House, John Kivlan and Philip Rosen of Hawthorne House and Satara Carey and Sofia Trottier from Whittier House.

Aarushi Chopra

“An intellectually curious and highly motivated student,” Chopra was most recently enrolled in Modern World Literature, Introduction to Statistics, AP Environmental Science, Sociology, AP Psychology, AP French Language and Culture and held a Workplace Experience Business and Marketing Internship.

Her hard work has earned Chopra membership in the National French Honor Society; she also successfully completed her Microsoft Certification in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Chopra has been involved in a wide range of activities at Chelmford High, including CHSTv, Marching Band, Color Guard, Interact Club, Student Council, Melting Pot, Prism and the Mentor Program.

In the future, Chopra plans to attend Bentley University to major in Marketing and Management.

She is the daughter of Risha and Akash Chopra.

Nalina Denault

“A deeply curious and driven student,” Denault was enrolled in Biotechnology, AP Literature and Composition, AP Psychology, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, Precalculus and AP Statistics.

Her dedication earned her membership in the National Honor Society (NHS), World Language Honors Society and the Science National Honors Society (SNHS).

Over the course of her high school career, Denault has been active in many organizations such as the Class Representatives, CHS Theatre Guild, Human Rights Club, Body Positive Alliance and the CHS Orchestra.

After leaving Chelmsford High, Denault plans to attend Emmanuel College to major in Nursing, in hopes of becoming a pediatric nurse.

She is the daughter of Ly Ho and Quyen Denault.

John Kivlan

This past year, Kivlan took a rigorous course load that included Pre-Calculus, Quantitative Reasoning, AP Spanish, Reality Check, Introduction to Criminal Justice, American History Through Film and Modern World Literature.

His commitment to his studies earned him induction into NHS.

“A standout both in and out of the classroom,” Kivlan has been involved with the CHS Mentor Program and has excelled in soccer, indoor track, and outdoor track.

His efforts have earned him numerous awards, including Eastern Mass All-Star, Lowell Sun All-Star, MVC First Team All-Conference and MVC Second Team All-Conference recognitions for both soccer and track.

After graduating, Kivlan plans to attend Assumption University, where he will pursue a degree in Accounting.

He is the son of Sarah and John Kivlan.

Philip Rosen

Possessing an “extraordinary academic commitment,” Rosen took on a very challenging course load, that includes AP Computer Science, AP Physics, AP Literature and Composition, AP American Government and Politics, AP Calculus, Strength and Conditioning, Reality Check and Tools and Woodworking.

His academic excellence has earned him induction into NHS and recognition as a National Merit Commended Student.

Rosen is an active member of the band, competed on the soccer team for two years, and has been a dedicated member of the track and field team throughout high school, currently serving as a team captain.

Outside of school, Rosen is also involved in the Boy Scouts.

This fall, Rosen will attend Purdue University, where he plans to pursue a degree in engineering.

He is the son of Valarie and Neil Rosen.

Satara Carey

“A lifelong learner, highly dedicated to her studies,” Carey was most recently enrolled in Quantitative Reasoning, Unified PE, Communications and Media, Mock Trial I, Modern World Literature, Physics; she also completed a Senior Internship at the Clerk’s Office at the Chelmsford Town Hall.

Carey has also been inducted into Spanish National Honor Society (SHH).

Throughout high school, Carey has been a member of Class Reps, Mock Trial, The Give Club and the Freshman Mentor Program, for which she served on the Mentor Board, helping organize and coordinate all of the program’s efforts to make the 9th grade transition seamless.

After graduating, Carey will be attending Keene State College to major in Political Science.

She is the daughter of Mina and Brian Carey.

Sofia Trottier

Described as “a remarkable student” with an “unwavering commitment to personal growth,” Trottier enrolled in AP Psychology, Quantitative Reasoning, Modern World Literature, Band, Forensics, Nutrition and Mentorship. She also completed a Senior Internship at the Stratton Elementary School in Arlington, Mass.

Trottier’s hard work has earned her membership to NHS, SHH and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Trottier is very active in the school community as a member of LIME, Freshman Mentor Program (vice-president), All-Town Wind Ensemble, Give Club, Body Positive Alliance (co-founder) and Band, for which she served as Quartermaster this year.

She was also named one of the CHS Alumni Association Senior Representatives who represents the student body at the Alumni Association meetings.

Trottier will be attending Clark University in Worcester in the fall to study Psychology.

She is the daughter of Suzanne and Ben Trottier.
