Alex Lafreniere always envisioned himself preventing goals.
The Chelmsford native, a lifelong hockey goalie, was good at it. But the UMass Lowell sophomore has swapped sports and switched roles.
He’s now the one doing the scoring. And the opposition is having a hard time stopping him.
The talented attackman leads UMass Lowell’s lacrosse team in scoring and is a major reason why the program is optimistic for a resurgence. In seven games this season, the 6-foot, 175-pound Lafreniere is filling up nets like a Gloucester fisherman.
