The Sun: Chelmsford’s Griffin Green getting a shot at MLB dream

An onerous recovery process. Lonely car rides to New Jersey. A positional switch to the bullpen.

Griffin Green’s journey to signing a Major League Baseball contract wasn’t glamorous. But it’s the hardships thrown at him from the game he’s grown to love that have made his dreams a reality.

Green, a former Chelmsford High baseball standout, recently inked a contract with the Cincinnati Reds following a successful stint in the MLB Draft League with the Frederick Keys. Standing at a powerful 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Green impressed professional scouts after a lengthy comeback from an elbow injury resulting in Tommy John surgery, a common UCL reconstruction for pitchers.
