Chelmsford High named a School of Recognition by DESE

CHELMSFORD, Massachusetts (Sept. 26, 2024) – Chelmsford High School was recently named among the state’s Schools of Recognition by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

As part of its annual accountability reporting process, DESE identifies a small number of schools from across the Commonwealth to receive the honor. This year there were only 57.

Schools selected for the recognition demonstrate high achievement, significant growth and consistently meeting or exceeding accountability targets.

This is the first time a school in the Chelmsford Public Schools district has been recognized for this achievement.

“I am incredibly proud of our teachers, administrators and support staff at the high school for their dedication and commitment to providing a quality education for our students,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jay Lang. “As a district, we pride ourselves on creating an environment in which students can thrive and become well-rounded and knowledgeable learners. This achievement further exemplifies that our students are receiving an outstanding education and are driven to succeed.”

Stephen Murray, principal of Chelmsford High School, said he is especially proud of the students’ determination to do well on the MCAS tests, as well as the hard work put in by the entire CHS staff.

“Our level of success would not be possible without the collaborative efforts of our teachers and paraeducators,” he said.

Murray also praised the educators at the district’s middle and elementary schools for helping to build a strong educational foundation for students.

“We are so thankful for the staff at every level in this district for providing Chelmsford High students with the skills and understanding they need to be successful,” he said.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Linda Hirsch said receiving this honor is a testament to the district’s dedication to excellence in education.

“Our faculty and administration have put a tremendous amount of effort over the years into supports and programming to provide our students with a top-notch education,” she said. “This recognition highlights their efforts.”
