Chelmsford High School announces October 2023 Students of the Month

CHELMSFORD, MA (October 26, 2023) – Six seniors were recently honored as Chelmsford High School named its Lions Pride/Rotary Student of the Month recipients for October, announced CHS Principal Stephen Murray.

Seniors receiving recognition were Ayushi Tripathi and Sara DeHaan from Emerson House, Ashrit Ram Anala and Amelia Normington from Hawthorne House, and Rachel Moore and Saja Khalifeh from Whittier House.

Sponsored by the Chelmsford Rotary Club for more than 30 years, the Student of the Month program recognizes outstanding students from each of CHS’s three academic houses – Emerson House, Hawthorne House, and Whittier House – for their achievements in and out of the classroom.

Ayushi Tripathi

A member of both the National Honor Society (NHS) and the Spanish National Honor Society (SHH), Ms. Tripathi is immersing herself in challenging coursework this semester, including AP calculus, AP research, AP psychology, AP literature and composition, AP Spanish, International Relations and Money Smart.

Additionally, Ms. Tripathi is involved in numerous student organizations, serving as the president and founder of the South Asian Student Association Club, the secretary of the Door Painting Project and an active member of the Mentor Program, the Interact Club, the Get Involved Volunteer Everywhere (GIVE) Club and DECA.

In her free time, Ms. Tripathi volunteers at the Chelmsford Food Pantry and The Wish Project and has served as a tutor at the Kumon Learning Center. Her efforts outside the classroom garnered her the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2022 and 2023.

Ms. Tripathi plans to attend a four-year university to study finance and entrepreneurship.

She is the daughter of Alpha and Ravindra Tripathi.

Sara DeHaan

A mainstay on the High Honor Roll, Ms. DeHaan is starting off her final year of high school with a slate of coursework that includes AP Literature, AP Music Theory, Reality Check, Honors Physics, AP Psychology, AP Environmental Science and Calculus.

Inducted into the NHS, National English Honor Society (NHES) and Science National Honor Society (SNHS), Ms. DeHaan is a representative for the CHS Alumni Association, as well as a class representative. A recipient of the Dartmouth College Book Award, Ms. DeHaan is also active in LIME, the Door Painting Project, the Interact Club and the Mentor Program.

Outside of the classroom, Ms. DeHaan can be found working at the Chelmsford Food Pantry, the Chelmsford Public Library and Household Goods as a volunteer.

Ms. DeHaan plans to attend a four-year university to study environmental science.

She is the daughter of Joy and Wes DeHaan.

Ashrit Ram Anala

Not one to shy away from a challenging course load, Mr. Anala is currently enrolled in AP Calculus, AP Psychology, AP Physics, AP Environmental Science, AP English Literature and Composition, Honors Computer Integrated Manufacturing and CP Biotechnology.

A member of the NHS, NEHS and French National Honor Society, Mr. Anala is a recipient of the Wesleyan College Book Award and the National Science Foundation Grant Award. In addition, he was in the Science Olympiad States Top 5 Placement and was named an AP Scholar.

Mr. Anala is a member of the CHS Swim and Dive Team, for which he was named a scholar athlete, and is active in several school organizations including the Math Team, the Coding Club, the Physics and Engineering Club, the Science Team, the Robotics Team and the ASO.

When he’s not in class, Mr. Anala serves as the Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer for Silverline Educational Advisory Services. He can also be found volunteering his services with CARES and the American Red Cross.

Mr. Anala hopes to attend Georgia Institute of Technology to study computer science.

He is the son of Janardhana Rao and Jyothirmayi Anala.

Amelia Normington

An NHS inductee, Ms. Normington is taking a rigorous course load this semester, including AP Statistics, AP Literature and Composition, AP Psychology, AP Research, ASL and Angels, Demons, Heaven & Hell.

In addition to her studies, Ms. Normington is actively involved in several school activities, including ASL Club, LIME, Melting Pot Club and Theatre Guild. She has also served as co-producer and Mentor Board President at CHSTv.

Ms. Normington plans to attend college upon graduation to continue her studies, with aspirations of landing a career in the TV business.

She is the daughter of Kathryn and James Normington.

Rachel Moore

A member of four honor societies, Ms. Moore is thriving in the classroom by taking AP Literature, AP Research, AP Environmental Science, AP Spanish, Pre-Calculus, Sociology and Nutrition this semester.

Inducted into the NHS, NEHS, SNHS and World Language Honor Society, Ms. Moore is a mainstay on the High Honor Roll.

In addition to being a member of the track and cross-country teams, Ms. Moore is active in GIVE Club, Poetry Club, and has served as a Class Representative all four years of high school. Outside the classroom, Ms. Moore can be found lending her services at church events, as well as at the Chelmsford Public Library.

Although she’s uncertain exactly what her future holds, Ms. Moore has her sights set on continuing her academic career at either Fordham University, the University of Connecticut or Providence College.

She is the daughter of Beth and David Moore.

Saja Khalifeh

A member of NHS, NEHS, SNHS, SHH and Tri-M Music Honor Society, Ms. Khalifeh’s course load for the semester consists of AP Literature and Composition, AP Research, AP Calculus, AP Spanish, Honors Anatomy & Physiology and Honors Orchestra.

Ms. Khalifeh has been active in several clubs and organizations, including Class Representatives, Student Council, Middle Eastern Student Association (MESA) and Cultural Club. She is also Vice President of the CHS Freshman Mentor Board and serves as the violin Section Leader in the orchestra.

Over this past summer, Ms. Khalifeh spent time collaborating with scientists performing breast cancer research at Lahey Hospital.

Though she’s not sure what school she will be attending, Ms. Khalifeh plans to continue pursuing her passion for medical research.

She is the daughter of Siham and Abdulnasser Khalifeh.
