Chelmsford High School announces Students of the Month for March

CHELMSFORD, Massachusetts (April 5, 2024) – Six seniors were recently honored as Chelmsford High School named its Lions Pride/Rotary Student of the Month recipients for March, announced CHS Principal Stephen Murray.
Students receiving recognition were Parv Parikh and Madeleine Gaffney from Emerson House, Aurora Ferreira and Jillian Walker of Hawthorne House and Amanda Nutt and Constantina Fredericks from Whittier House.
Parv Parikh
Currently enrolled in AP Computer Science Principles, Biotechnology 2, Physics, Modern World Literature, AP Psychology, AP Environmental Science and AP Calculus, Mr. Parikh is described as a “thoughtful, patient, understanding and welcoming” student.
His hard work in the classroom has earned him membership in the National Honor Society (NHS), National English Honor Society (NEHS), World Language Honor Society and National Science Honor Society (SNHS).
When he’s not spending time on his academics, Mr. Parikh can be found participating in the Future Generation of Readers Club, CharitABEL Club, Class Reps, Career Creations Club, Student Council and DECA Club, as well as the CHS Mentor Program. He’s also a vital member of the CHS boys tennis team.
Mr. Parikh is also an avid volunteer, offering his service as a CYBL Junior Boys Basketball Coach, as well as at the BAPS Hindu Temple, The Wish Project and Chelmsford Public Library.
After graduating, Mr. Parikh plans to attend a four-year college to study Computer Science and one day secure a challenging position as a Full Stack Developer in a fast-paced environment.
He is the son of Rinkal and Rinku Parikh.
Madeleine Gaffney
Ms. Gaffney is currently enrolled in AP American Government and Politics, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Environmental Science, Honors Common Law & Trial Procedures, Pre-Calculus, Concert Choir and Civics.
A member of the Tri-M Music Honors Society, Ms. Gaffney is a vital member of the Theater Guild, co-president of The Thursdays a cappella group and a dedicated member of the Mock Trial Team.
Described as kindhearted and respectful, Ms. Gaffney has volunteered at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts and assisted with CCA-hosted events, where she organized event spaces, and handled ticket sales and raffles.
In the future, Ms. Gaffney plans to attend a four-year university in Boston to study Political Science, with the hopes of one day going to Law School with a focus on civil rights or public policy.
She is the daughter of Leah and Richard Gaffney.
Aurora Ferreira
Inducted into the NHS, the French National Honors Society, and SNHS, Ms. Ferreira’s senior course load includes AP Psychology, AP Research, AP Literature and Composition, Anatomy and Physiology, Journalism, Quantitative Reasoning and Problem Solving and Reality Check.
In addition to her studies, Ms. Ferreira is active in athletics and extracurriculars, participating in winter cheerleading and girls tennis, as well as being a member of the student council member and speech and debate team.
Outside of school, Ms. Ferreira can be found volunteering her time at the Chelmsford Art Society Fourth of July Art Show, the Mount Pleasant Golf Club Annual Christmas Celebration, the Byam Annual Walk-A-Thon and various Boosters Athletic Club events.
Ms. Ferreira plans to attend Stonehill College to study psychology and sociology, eventually using her degree in a clinical or school setting.
She is the daughter of Meredith and Gary Ferreira.
Jillian Walker
Ms. Walker is currently enrolled in Modern World Literature, Photography 2, Early Childhood 2, Quantitative Reasoning, E-Commerce Marketing, Unified Gym and Reality Check.
Her hard work and knack for excelling in diverse subjects has earned Ms. Walker membership in the Spanish Honors Society (SHH).
Described as a “natural leader with a great attitude,” Ms. Walker is a member of the Cross Country and Winter Track and Field teams, as well as the lacrosse team.
In addition, Ms. Walker has been a Tundra Leader, showcasing and promoting school spirit; she has also taken part in a PAVE (Providing Academic and Vocational Experiences) internship, assisting with students in a special education setting.
After high school, Ms. Walker plans to attend college to study education and, one day, would like to teach second grade.
She is the daughter of Tara and James Walker.
Amanda Nutt
Currently enrolled in Exploring Early Childhood 3, Honors Common Law & Trial Procedures 2, Modern World Literature, Honors International Relations, Calculus, AP American Government and Politics and Nutrition, Ms. Nutt is described as “a strong academic student.”
Because of her success in the classroom, Ms. Nutt has been inducted into three honor societies: NHS, NEHS and SNHS.
Ms. Nutt is very active in the CHS community, serving as the captain of the Irish Step Team, co-president of the Door Painting Project, Head Counsel of the Mock Trial team and a member of the Mentor Board.
In addition, done community service work through Dance New England and LIME Club, as well as with the Chelmsford Fall Festival.
After graduation, Ms. Nutt plans to go to college to study Political Science and continue to law school, to eventually become a lawyer.
She is the daughter of Tammie and Mathew Nutt.
Constantina Fredericks
A member of NHS, SNHS and SHH, Ms. Fredericks is currently taking Digital Music, Statistics, Reality Check, AP Psychology, Modern World Literature and Physics.
She is very active in athletics, serving as the captain of the Varsity Field Hockey team, as well as participating in Outdoor Track and Field and Varsity Winter Cheer.
Her skills in athletics have earned Ms. Fredericks 2nd Team MVC All-Star honors in Field Hockey, and she has also been recognized as a scholar athlete.
Ms. Fredericks is a Freshman Mentor, a member of Class Representatives, and is the Treasurer for the Class of 2024.
Outside of CHS, Ms. Fredericks has volunteered with Chelmsford Youth Field Hockey and Softball leagues. She has also taken part in food pantry drives, Toys for Tots and other local charitable services.
After graduation, Ms. Fredericks plans to study Kinesiology with a likely minor in Nutrition. Ultimately, her goal is to someday earn a doctorate degree and open her own practice.
She is the daughter of Georgia and Steven Fredericks.
