CHS Theatre Guild Offering Free Camp for Rising Freshmen, CHS Students

Camp scheduled for Aug. 16-20 at the Performing Arts Center

CHELMSFORD, MA (July 16, 2021) – The Chelmsford High School Theatre Guild is offering a free Theatre Camp for all Chelmsford students entering High School as well as existing CHS students Aug. 16-20 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Carl J. Rondina Performing Arts Center.

Camp attendance will be limited to the first 30 students who register. Students can book their registration by completing the online form or by e-mailing CHS Theatre Director Lauren Cochran. Deadline for registration is Sunday, Aug. 8.

The camp is an opportunity to familiarize with the renowned CHS Theatre Guild, its board and alumni as well as incoming students.

The first two days of the camp include tours of the theatre areas – Black Box Theatre, The Shed, shop and green rooms – as well as preparing for the 2021-22 theatre schedule including sorting, inventory and cleaning. Attendance is mandatory for the first two days of the camp (for which students should dress in work clothing) in order to attend the remainder of the camp.

Workshops for Wednesday through Friday – to be instructed by CHS Theatre Guild alumni who have moved on to study different facets of theatre – will cover the following areas:

  • Lighting
  • Sound
  • Acting
  • Improvisation
  • Playwriting
  • Costumes
  • Hair and makeup

Students are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch Monday through Thursday as pizza will be provided on Friday.
