Ten CHS Student-Musicians Accepted to MMEA All-State Ensemble

CHS musicians to perform in MMEA All-State Concert at Symphony Hall Mar. 5
CHELMSFORD, MA (Feb. 10, 2022) – Ten musicians representing Chelmsford High School’s Band, Orchestra and Chorus have been selected to participate in the 2022 Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) All-State Ensemble, the Association announced on Feb. 3.
Junior Sarah Buliszak (flute) and sophomores Keya Upadhyay (flute) and Kyle Pinto (trombone) were each named to the All-State Ensemble for the second straight year. Also achieving All-State status were seniors Keira Comtois (chorus), Doug Desmarais (chorus), Daniel Schiefen (trombone) and Nick La Cava (snare drum); juniors Kaitlyn Kaminuma (violin) and Sarah Roch (mallets); and sophomore Cynthia Lu.
All 10 musicians will perform in the MMEA All-State Concert at Symphony Hall in Boston Saturday, Mar. 5. Eight CHS musicians qualified for the 2021 All-State Ensemble, though the live performance at Symphony Hall was replaced with a virtual masterclass with music industry leaders.
Thirteen CHS musicians – each of whom were named to the MMEA Northeastern Senior District Music Ensemble in November – qualified for the 2022 MMEA All-State Ensemble auditions, which were performed virtually and submitted in January.
More than 1,100 student musicians representing public and private schools in Northeast Massachusetts auditioned for the 2021 MMEA Northeast Senior District Music Ensemble, including 14 from CHS, in November. As it does each year, the Chelmsford Friends of Music covered all student registration fees.
